There is really nothing wrong with the formula of the **Mini Cooper S**. It has the goods to wow both onlookers and the fellow behind the wheel. But the only thing constant in this world is change, which the iconic British hot hatch cannot escape. And Philippine-spec models now have some rather tasteful updates.

*You can have your Cooper S in three flavors.*

The eagle-eyed Mini faithful will spot the absence of chrome on the new Cooper S. This is said to enhance the exterior’s already sporty demeanor by coating anything that used to be shiny in either **matte or gloss black**. Also present are functional **slits** on the front bumper, which divert air around the wheels to reduce drag and increase downforce.

The cabin also gets some useful new gadgets. The traditional instrument cluster is now replaced by a **digital display**. The infotainment screen is now larger at **8.8 inches**, and finally gains wireless Apple CarPlay. Further enhancing the ambience is the **laser-engraved surround** of the infotainment display, mood lighting, and the Harman Kardon sound system.

**Electronic safety aids** also make their debut on the Cooper S. Aside from parking sensors, a reversing camera, and adaptive cruise control, there is now forward-collision warning and braking, and lane-keep assist just to give owners more peace of mind.

Each Cooper S packs a mighty punch under the hood. The **2.0-liter turbocharged engine** produces 189hp and 280Nm, the latter figure available from as early as 1,350rpm. The **seven-speed dual-clutch transmission** ensures that every bit of horsepower is immediately transferred to the ground with each prod of the accelerator.

The updated Cooper S is available in three body styles. Prices are as follows:

- **3-Door** – P3,150,000
- **5-Door** – P3,250,00
- **Convertible** – P3,500,000
